Caramel Apple Taquitos are a delightful treat, featuring crispy tortillas filled with gooey caramel and tender apples. Perfect for dessert or a fun snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 flour tortillas

  • 2 crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and thinly sliced

  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (granulated sugar mixed with ground cinnamon)

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Clear your workspace and gather all ingredients.
  2. Peel and slice the apples thinly for even cooking.
  3. Mix granulated sugar with ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar coating.
  4. Place sliced apples in the center of each tortilla, drizzle with caramel sauce, and roll tightly from one end to another.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  6. Fry taquitos seam-side down for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain excess oil on paper towels.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftover taquitos in an airtight container for up to 2 days. To reheat, place them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or until crispy.

  • Flavor Variations: For extra flavor, you can swap apples for pears, or add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for a bit of crunch.

  • Indulgent Twist: Drizzle melted chocolate over the top of the taquitos for an indulgent dessert option.

  • Frying Tip: Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying, as this will prevent the taquitos from becoming soggy.

  • Serving Tip: Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an even more indulgent treat.
