Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
  2. Beat in the egg one at a time along with vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until fully incorporated; the dough will be soft.
  4. Chill the dough in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
