  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Melt the butter with Guinness in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until dissolved; let cool slightly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the cooled beer mixture with dry ingredients, adding eggs and vanilla; mix gently until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting with whipped heavy cream mixed with powdered sugar and vanilla.
