    • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
    • ½ cup heavy cream
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Cake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, mixing until smooth. Stir in the hot water until the batter is well-combined (it will be thin).

2️⃣ Bake the Cake:
Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

3️⃣ Prepare the Pecan Filling:
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and sugar over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add the toasted pecans, mixing well. Set aside to cool.

4️⃣ Make the Ganache:

Place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Spread half of the pecan filling over the top. Place the second layer of cake on top and spread the remaining pecan filling over it. Pour the chocolate ganache over the entire cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
