  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (dotted on filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into a large bowl. Toss with lemon juice.
  3. In another bowl, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Roll out half the dough into a circle and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
  5. Cover with the top crust and cut slits for steam to escape.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F (220°C), then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
