Homemade Naan is a deliciously soft and fluffy Indian bread that’s perfect for scooping up rich curries or enjoying with yogurt.   • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow to rest for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually mix in flour, salt, and yogurt until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into smaller balls. Roll each into an oval shape about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown spots appear. Brush with melted butter or ghee before serving.
