Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel)
  • 1 tbsp blue food coloring (gel)
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one white, tint one red, and another blue.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of each color into the prepared pans and swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
