  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese (well-drained)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Zest of 1 orange or lemon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add milk to form a dough and press it into the prepared dish.
  3. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  4. While cooling, mix ricotta with sugar, vanilla extract, and zest until smooth; fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the ricotta mixture over the cooled crust and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes until set.
  6. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and dusting with powdered sugar.
