Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  2. Add the chopped onions to the skillet with the beef. Cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Top with half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Pour evenly over all layers in the baking dish.
  5. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes and beef mixture. Top with remaining cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
