  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) – optional

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water in a small bowl for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough, mix in minced garlic and half the parmesan cheese.
  6. Shape the dough onto an oiled baking sheet, dimple the surface, sprinkle with remaining parmesan and herbs if using. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
