  • 1.5 lbs flank steak
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together garlic, soy sauce, lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, chili powder, black pepper, and brown sugar until well combined.
  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight preferred).
  3. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade (discard marinade) and grill each side for 4-6 minutes until caramelized and medium-rare (130°F internal temperature). Adjust time for desired doneness.
  5. Let the steak rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
  6. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
