  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup crushed Oreos

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix oil and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then incorporate buttermilk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  4. Gently fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely. Once cooled, layer with cream cheese frosting mixed with crushed Oreos.
