Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (100% pure)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup buttermilk (lukewarm)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 4 tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon, and yeast.
  2. Warm buttermilk until lukewarm; then add melted butter and pumpkin puree to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until elastic. Let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth for about an hour.
  4. For the filling, combine chopped pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until mixed well.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread the filling evenly over it. Roll tightly from one long side to another.
  6. Cut into slices and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Allow to rise again while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; cool slightly before drizzling with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
