Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • Your favorite toppings (e.g., sausage, peppers, mushrooms)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water and yeast until frothy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil; stir to form a shaggy dough.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
  3. While the dough rises, blend crushed tomatoes with salt and pepper; add Italian seasoning if desired.
  4. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease a deep dish pan with olive oil.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a circle slightly larger than your pan. Place it in the greased pan, pressing it up the sides.
  6. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the crust first to prevent sogginess, followed by your chosen toppings and remaining cheese. Pour sauce evenly on top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
