  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 4 slices Texas toast
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for searing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Form patties and sear for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Remove patties and add onion to the skillet; sauté until golden. Stir in flour for one minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth and season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened (5–7 minutes).
  5. Preheat oven as per Texas toast package and bake until golden brown (5–10 minutes).
  6. Assemble by placing two patties on each slice of toast and generously pouring gravy over.
